SK Telecom Partners with NVIDIA to Build Asia’s Largest AI Infrastructure

South Korea’s SK Telecom has announced a landmark partnership with NVIDIA to construct what is expected to become Asia’s largest artificial intelligence infrastructure. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in the global race to scale AI computing power, positioning South Korea as a central hub for next-generation AI services in the region.

Under the agreement, SK Telecom will deploy NVIDIA’s latest GPU and networking technologies to build a massive AI data center capable of supporting hyperscale AI workloads. The infrastructure is designed to handle the growing demand for training large language models and generative AI applications, which require enormous computational resources. While specific financial terms were not disclosed, industry analysts estimate the project’s value to be in the billions of dollars, reflecting the scale of investment required for such an undertaking.

The partnership leverages SK Telecom’s existing telecommunications and data center expertise alongside NVIDIA’s cutting-edge hardware and software ecosystem. SK Telecom CEO stated that the collaboration will “accelerate the development of AI services across industries, from healthcare to autonomous driving,” emphasizing the transformative potential of the infrastructure. NVIDIA’s vice president of telecom added that the project “represents a new benchmark for AI infrastructure in Asia, enabling unprecedented levels of performance and efficiency.”

The initiative comes at a time when global demand for AI computing power is surging, with countries and corporations racing to secure access to advanced chips and data center capacity. By building the largest AI infrastructure in Asia, SK Telecom aims to attract international clients and foster local AI innovation, potentially reshaping the competitive landscape of the region’s cloud and AI services market. The project is also expected to create thousands of high-skilled jobs and drive further investment in South Korea’s technology ecosystem.
