Koramco and DCI Break Ground on 40MW Ansan Siwha AI Data Center in South Korea
Koramco Asset Management and DCI Korea have officially commenced construction of the 40MW "Ansan Siwha AI Data Center," marking a significant expansion of South Korea's digital infrastructure to support the surging demand for artificial intelligence computing power. The project, located in the Ansan Siwha Industrial Complex in Gyeonggi Province, is expected to become operational by late 2026.
The facility is designed to accommodate high-density AI workloads, featuring advanced cooling systems and a power capacity of 40 megawatts. According to the developers, the data center will target hyperscale cloud providers and AI-focused enterprises, addressing the growing need for localized, low-latency processing capabilities in the region.
Koramco, a leading South Korean asset manager, and DCI, a data center infrastructure specialist, emphasized that the project aligns with the government's push to strengthen the country's digital economy. "This data center will serve as a critical hub for AI innovation, providing the robust infrastructure necessary to support next-generation technologies," a spokesperson for the joint venture stated.
Industry analysts note that the Ansan Siwha project reflects a broader trend of accelerated data center development across Asia, driven by the rapid adoption of generative AI and cloud computing. The facility is poised to contribute to the local economy by creating jobs during construction and operation, while also enhancing South Korea's competitiveness in the global AI race.
