Meta Signs 220MW Solar PPA with Sabanci Renewables in Texas
Meta has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Sabanci Renewables, securing 100 percent of the environmental attributes from two solar projects in Texas. The deal marks another significant step in the hyperscaler’s growing renewable energy portfolio in the state, which is becoming a central hub for its data center expansion.
The agreements cover the 100MWac/130MWdc Lucky 7 Solar and 120MWac/156MWdc Pepper Solar projects. Combined, Meta will receive 220MWac/286MWdc of power from the two facilities. Both solar farms are expected to reach completion in the second half of 2027, at which point Sabanci will begin delivering the associated renewable energy credits to Meta.
“Entering into a long-term renewable energy agreement with Meta is an important step for Sabanci Renewables as we continue to grow our presence in the United States,” said Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu, strategic investments and operations president at Sabanci Group. He added that the deal marks a strategic milestone in the company’s U.S. market journey and reinforces its focus on building durable partnerships with institutional and corporate off-takers.
Meta’s head of clean and renewable energy, Amanda Yang, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating: “We’re excited to support the development of the Lucky 7 and Pepper solar projects, which together will add new solar capacity to the Texas grid. This long-term agreement with Sabanci Renewables reflects the kind of partnerships we value—ones that bring meaningful new energy resources online.”
The PPA is the latest in a series of renewable energy deals Meta has signed in Texas. Earlier this month, the company entered a corporate PPA with RWE to offtake power from the under-development 298MW Rabbit’s Foot Solar project in northeast Texas. Meta currently operates data center campuses in Fort Worth and Temple, Texas, and is developing a third facility in El Paso, expected to begin operations in 2028.
Sabanci Renewables, a U.S.-based subsidiary of Turkey’s Sabanci Holding, was established in 2022 and currently has an operational footprint of 790MW. The agreement with Meta underscores the growing demand for large-scale renewable energy from major technology firms seeking to power their expanding infrastructure with clean energy.
