True IDC Invests $6 Billion Baht in Seventh AI Hyperscale Data Center Near Bangkok

True Internet Data Center Co., Ltd. (True IDC), Thailand’s largest data center and cloud services provider under the Charoen Pokphand Group, has announced a new investment of over 6 billion baht to build its seventh data center in northern Bangkok. The company held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project, which is slated to begin operations in the third quarter of 2027. The facility is designed to meet surging demand for cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads, positioning Thailand as a regional digital and AI economy hub.

The rapid expansion of AI and generative AI (GenAI) is reshaping business competitiveness across the Asia-Pacific region. According to IDC, investments in AI and GenAI in the region are expected to grow fivefold, reaching a value of 11 trillion baht by 2029, with an average annual growth rate of 38.4%. Thanasorn Jaidee, Managing Director of True IDC, emphasized that while these technologies are critical drivers for business growth, many organizations still lack access to hyperscale-level infrastructure capable of supporting advanced processing. “Our goal is to build a world-class data center to support such infrastructure,” he said.

The new facility is being designed as an AI hyperscale data center with high processing capabilities. It will feature a massive core network connectivity hub located in a business district, enabling both Thai and international organizations to access superior digital infrastructure. The company believes this foundation will accelerate Thailand’s transformation into a sustainable digital and AI economic leader in the ASEAN region. The project is also intended to support data sovereignty and strengthen the country’s technological ecosystem.

Key design elements include support for high-density CPU and GPU chip processing, multi-layered power systems for both air and liquid cooling, and robust network and security protocols. The location was chosen for its strategic proximity to central Bangkok, convenient transportation, and low risk of natural disasters, ensuring continuous business operations. The facility will operate under Uptime Institute international standards and adhere to ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 for environmental and energy management, including maintaining optimal Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).

True IDC, headquartered in Bangkok and operating under CP Group and Global Infrastructure Partner (GIP)—a part of BlackRock—manages facilities in key business districts both domestically and internationally. The company is recognized by leading global organizations and is a key driver of Thailand’s and ASEAN’s digital economy. With this seventh AI hyperscale data center, True IDC aims to elevate the country’s digital infrastructure beyond previous limits, promoting economic growth and supporting the region’s digital transformation.
