Avax One Advances 10MW Off-Grid AI and Bitcoin Mining Data Center Project in Alberta
April 10, 2026
Avax One Technology has taken a significant step toward developing a novel, power-first data center in Alberta, Canada, highlighting a growing industry trend of co-locating compute-intensive operations directly with energy sources to bypass grid constraints. The cryptocurrency and blockchain infrastructure firm has signed a front-end engineering and design (FEED) proposal for a 10-megawatt, off-grid facility powered by behind-the-meter natural gas generation.
The project, planned for the 4-31 Battery site, is designed to support both artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), and immediate Bitcoin mining operations. BlueFlare Energy Solutions will lead the FEED study, which will assess technical design, costs, and regulatory requirements without requiring upfront capital from Avax One. The work will be conducted by one of three pre-qualified engineering firms and will run concurrently with early site development at a location that also offers access to a 138kV transmission line and fiber connectivity.
"This FEED engagement represents the first formal step in what we believe will become a landmark AI infrastructure project in Alberta," said Landon Ruszkowski, CEO of BlueFlare. He emphasized the firm's commitment to "delivering engineering certainty and cost transparency before any significant capital is deployed." Jolie Kahn, CEO of Avax One, explained the strategic rationale: "Demand for AI and high-performance computing continues to accelerate, while access to power remains the primary bottleneck. Our approach is designed to bridge that gap by combining energy and compute in a modular, scalable format."
To generate near-term revenue from the site's power capacity, Avax One has already acquired 220 Bitmain Antminer S21 Pro ASIC mining machines for deployment in Alberta. This move supports a dual-track strategy of immediate monetization through Bitcoin mining while positioning for long-term participation in the AI and HPC growth cycle. The company views this project as part of a broader push to develop modular data center infrastructure in energy-advantaged regions like Alberta and Texas. Avax One, headquartered in Vancouver and rebranded in 2025 from AgriFORCE, acts as a treasury for the Avalanche (AVAX) blockchain network.
