Wesco International Acquires Singapore’s Newark Engineering for $136M to Strengthen Data Center Cooling in Southeast Asia

Wesco International, a global provider of electrical and industrial distribution services, has announced the acquisition of Newark Engineering, a Singapore-based precision cooling solutions provider, for approximately $136 million. The deal marks Wesco’s strategic push into the rapidly growing Southeast Asian data center market, where demand for high-performance cooling infrastructure is surging due to the expansion of cloud computing and artificial intelligence workloads.

Newark Engineering specializes in the design and installation of mission-critical cooling systems for data centers, including precision air conditioning and liquid cooling technologies. The acquisition gives Wesco an established operational footprint in Singapore and broader Southeast Asia, a region that has seen a sharp increase in hyperscale data center investments from global tech giants such as Google, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft.

Wesco’s move comes at a time when data center operators are under growing pressure to improve energy efficiency and thermal management. Advanced cooling systems are essential to support higher-density server racks and reduce overall power consumption. By integrating Newark Engineering’s technical expertise and customer base, Wesco aims to offer end-to-end cooling solutions that address both performance and sustainability requirements.

The $136 million transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. Wesco said the acquisition will be immediately accretive to its earnings and will strengthen its position in the industrial technology and infrastructure sectors. Industry analysts note that the deal reflects a broader trend of consolidation in the data center supply chain, as companies seek to capture value from the growing demand for specialized equipment and services in emerging markets.
