Galaxy Digital Acquires 500 Acres Near Waco for Second Texas Data Center Campus
Crypto-focused financial services firm Galaxy Digital has secured a 500-acre plot of land outside Waco, Texas, to develop its second data center campus in the state, marking a significant expansion of its digital infrastructure footprint. The acquisition underscores the growing demand for large-scale computing facilities to support cryptocurrency mining and high-performance computing workloads.
The site, located in McLennan County near the city of Waco, is intended to host a multi-building data center complex. Galaxy Digital plans to leverage the property’s access to robust power infrastructure and favorable energy market conditions in Texas, which has become a magnet for data center developers due to its deregulated electricity grid and abundant renewable energy resources.
This project follows Galaxy Digital’s first Texas data center campus, which is already under development. The new campus is expected to significantly increase the firm’s total capacity for hosting blockchain-related operations and other compute-intensive applications. While the company did not disclose the total power capacity or investment value for the Waco site, industry analysts estimate that a campus of this scale could support hundreds of megawatts of IT load.
The move comes as institutional interest in digital assets and blockchain infrastructure continues to grow, with major players seeking to secure reliable, low-cost energy for their operations. Galaxy Digital’s expansion in Texas also highlights the state’s role as a leading hub for data center development, driven by its business-friendly policies and access to wind and solar power.
