SIC and DC Union Sign Deal for RM2.5 Billion Data Centre in Cyberjaya
Sabah International Corporation (SIC) has entered into a strategic partnership with DC Union to develop a state-of-the-art data centre in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, with an investment valued at RM2.5 billion. The agreement marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s rapidly expanding digital infrastructure sector, underscoring the growing demand for cloud and data services in the region.
The deal was formalized in a signing ceremony attended by senior executives from both companies, along with government officials. Under the terms of the agreement, the new facility will be designed to support high-density computing and enterprise-grade connectivity, catering to hyperscalers and large enterprises seeking to expand their footprint in Southeast Asia.
Cyberjaya, often referred to as Malaysia’s Silicon Valley, has emerged as a prime location for data centre development due to its robust fiber network, reliable power supply, and proximity to Kuala Lumpur. The RM2.5 billion investment reflects the scale of the project, which is expected to deliver significant capacity for data storage and processing once operational.
Industry observers note that the partnership between SIC, a state-backed corporation from Sabah, and DC Union, a specialized data centre developer, highlights the increasing collaboration between regional players and infrastructure experts. This project is poised to contribute to Malaysia’s ambition of becoming a leading digital hub in Asia, supporting the government’s initiatives to boost cloud adoption and digital transformation.
