SkyVolt and Nodiac Sign LOI to Co-Locate Modular Data Centers at Renewable Energy Sites Across North America

U.S. renewable developer SkyVolt Energy has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent (LOI) with modular data center developer Nodiac Group, marking the second such agreement Nodiac has reached with a U.S. renewable energy firm. The deal aims to deploy distributed compute infrastructure directly at SkyVolt’s portfolio of wind, solar, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development sites across North America.

The LOI establishes a framework for Nodiac to screen and assess SkyVolt’s renewable energy project pipeline for potential co-location of containerized data centers. Under the agreement, SkyVolt will share detailed information about its sites, with definitive agreements expected to be negotiated on a site-by-site basis. This partnership reflects a broader industry shift toward “power-to-load” development, where renewable developers move beyond selling raw megawatts to creating higher-value, integrated energy and computing projects.

SkyVolt CEO Alexandre Alonso Carpintero emphasized the strategic importance of the deal. “This marks another step in our shift toward power-to-load development—moving beyond raw megawatts to higher-value projects,” he said. “Our planned transaction with Nodiac reflects our conviction that the digital economy must be built on a clean energy foundation. By co-locating data center infrastructure directly at our renewable development sites, we are not only accelerating speed to power for the AI industry—we are helping ensure that the infrastructure powering tomorrow’s economy is sustainable, distributed, and resilient.”

Nodiac CEO Robert Sher echoed the sentiment, highlighting the mutual benefits of the arrangement. “SkyVolt has built an impressive development pipeline of renewable energy assets across North America, and we see tremendous potential to unlock new value from that infrastructure,” Sher said. “By co-locating modular data centers at their wind, solar, and BESS sites, we can deliver speed-to-power for the AI industry while generating meaningful new revenue streams for SkyVolt’s existing development pipeline assets.”

Denver-headquartered Nodiac specializes in containerized data centers ranging from 1MW to 15MW, designed to be deployed alongside existing energy infrastructure. The company claims its approach significantly reduces time-to-power by avoiding delays associated with grid interconnection and transmission upgrades. In April, Nodiac signed a similar LOI with Canadian renewable developer PowerBank to deploy compute infrastructure at PowerBank’s renewable sites across North America.

SkyVolt, headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, currently has approximately 2GW of renewable energy projects in its pipeline. The partnership with Nodiac is expected to unlock new value from these assets by co-locating energy-intensive data center operations directly at the source of generation, a model that is gaining traction as the AI industry’s demand for reliable, low-latency power continues to surge.
