Intel Announces $2.6B Additional Investment in Vietnam, Total Reaches $4.1B
Intel has announced a fresh $2.6 billion investment in Vietnam, bringing its total commitment in the country to $4.1 billion. The announcement, made on Friday as the company marked its 20th anniversary of operations in Vietnam, underscores the growing strategic importance of the Southeast Asian nation in the global semiconductor supply chain.
Since establishing its facility at the Saigon High Tech Park in 2006 with just a few hundred employees, Intel has transformed the site into the largest assembly and test facility within its global network. The facility now employs approximately 6,500 people. Prior to this latest injection, Intel had invested $1.5 billion in Vietnam.
Over the past two decades, Intel Products Vietnam has produced more than four billion units and contributed over $110 billion in export value. In 2025 alone, the facility generated $11.67 billion in exports, accounting for 57 percent of the total export turnover of the Saigon High Tech Park and roughly 12 percent of Ho Chi Minh City’s overall exports.
Beyond manufacturing, Intel has allocated approximately $22 million to education, environmental, safety, and health programs across Vietnam. The company reports that it has helped develop nearly 10,000 Vietnamese engineers, technicians, and leaders, while enabling more than 600 local suppliers to participate in advanced manufacturing. In its most recent educational initiative, Intel donated over 30 semiconductor assembly and test tools to the Saigon High Tech Park and Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNU Hanoi) to support semiconductor education and research, marking the first time a company in the country has repurposed chip manufacturing equipment for training purposes.
On the sustainability front, the facility has saved more than 60 million kWh of electricity, utilized 3.2 million kWh of green electricity, reduced net emissions by over 16,400 tons of carbon, and achieved a 99 percent waste recycling rate.
Looking ahead, Intel is collaborating with government and local partners to expand its Digital Readiness Program into initiatives such as AI for Future Workforce and AI for Youth. These efforts align with Vietnam’s national goal of developing 50,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030, positioning the country as a key player in the global tech talent pipeline.
