Latvia’s Tet Completes First Phase of DC7 Data Center Near Riga with €30 Million Investment
Latvian telecommunications and IT services provider Tet has completed the first phase of its DC7 data center near Riga, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital infrastructure expansion. The project, which represents a total investment of €30 million, underscores the growing demand for colocation and cloud services in the Baltic region.
The newly operational facility, located in the outskirts of Riga, is designed to support high-density computing environments and meet the increasing needs of enterprise clients for secure and scalable data storage. Tet’s DC7 is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Latvia’s position as a regional data hub, leveraging its strategic location between Northern and Eastern Europe.
According to Tet officials, the first phase delivers several megawatts of IT capacity, with the company planning to expand the site in subsequent phases to accommodate future demand. The data center incorporates advanced cooling and energy efficiency technologies, aligning with industry trends toward sustainable operations. Tet emphasized that the facility adheres to Tier III standards, ensuring high availability and redundancy for critical workloads.
The investment comes as the Baltic states see a surge in data center development, driven by the expansion of cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and the need for local data sovereignty. Tet’s DC7 is expected to serve both domestic and international clients, offering colocation, managed hosting, and disaster recovery services. Industry analysts note that such projects are essential for reducing latency and improving data residency compliance in the region.
