DDSP Secures $283 Million Financing for Hyperscale Data Center in Johor, Malaysia
Digital Data Service Platform (DDSP), a Singapore-based digital infrastructure platform, has secured $283 million in financing to support the development of a major hyperscale data center campus in Johor, Malaysia. The deal underscores the growing investor appetite for Southeast Asia’s rapidly expanding data center market, particularly in Malaysia’s southern state, which has emerged as a strategic hub for regional cloud and AI infrastructure.
According to the company, the financing package includes both green loan facilities and conventional debt instruments, arranged by a consortium of international and regional banks. The funds will be used to complete the first phase of the campus, which is expected to deliver approximately 40 megawatts of critical IT load capacity upon commissioning. The project is located in Johor’s data center corridor, an area that has attracted significant investment from global hyperscalers and colocation providers due to its proximity to Singapore, availability of land, and supportive government policies.
The facility is designed to meet Tier III standards for reliability and will incorporate energy-efficient cooling systems and renewable energy sourcing to align with sustainability commitments. DDSP stated that the financing reflects strong confidence in the company’s development pipeline and the broader demand for digital infrastructure in the region. “This milestone enables us to accelerate our delivery of high-quality, scalable data center capacity to meet the surging needs of cloud service providers and enterprises,” a company representative said.
The data center market in Malaysia is projected to grow significantly over the next five years, driven by increasing cloud adoption, the expansion of AI workloads, and government initiatives such as the National Digital Economy Blueprint. Johor, in particular, has become a focal point for new developments, with several large-scale projects announced in recent months. Industry analysts note that the availability of financing for projects of this scale signals maturing market conditions and growing confidence from lenders in the long-term viability of data center assets in Southeast Asia.
