Paraguay Awards State Data Center Project to Consorcio TIC
Paraguay’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITIC) has awarded a consortium led by local firms the contract to build a modular data center with international Tier III certification, marking a significant step in the country’s push to modernize its digital infrastructure. The project, part of the broader Digital Agenda, is expected to enhance the security and reliability of government digital services while advancing the nation’s goal of technological sovereignty.
The contract was awarded through International Public Tender MITIC PAAD No. 03/2025, with the winning consortium, Consorcio TIC, comprising Concret Mix S.A., ITC Servicios S.R.L., and TSV del Paraguay S.R.L. The selection process drew three bidders, including Consorcio MITIC DC and Consorcio Infraestructura Digital PY, but Consorcio TIC was chosen after meeting all requirements stipulated in the tender.
According to MITIC, the data center project is designed to strengthen the state’s technological backbone, increase the security and reliability of digital services, and improve citizen-facing applications. The ministry emphasized that the initiative also seeks to move toward greater technological sovereignty by establishing a robust and reliable platform that reduces dependence on foreign infrastructure.
The development underscores a broader trend across Latin America, where governments are investing in sovereign data infrastructure to support digital transformation and ensure data security. By securing Tier III certification, the facility will offer high levels of redundancy and uptime, aligning with international standards for critical data operations. More details about the project are available on the MITIC portal at mitic.gov.py/datacenter.
