Digital Halo Tops Out Fully Leased 20MW First Phase of Johor Data Center Campus

Singapore-based data center developer Digital Halo Pte Ltd has reached a major construction milestone, topping out the first phase of its 120MW campus in Johor, Malaysia. The company announced the progress via its LinkedIn page, marking a significant step in the expansion of digital infrastructure in the region.

The first phase, known as JHB1, is fully leased to a single customer and will deliver 20MW of IT capacity. It is scheduled to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2026. This development underscores the growing demand for hyperscale-ready capacity in Southeast Asia, particularly in Johor, which has emerged as a strategic hub for data center investment due to its proximity to Singapore and supportive government policies.

The project is backed by Partners Group, one of the largest global private markets firms, which acquired a majority stake in Digital Halo in May 2025. At the time, Partners Group committed US$400 million to build out data centers initially in Manila and Johor Bahru, with plans for further expansion across the region. This financial commitment reflects the strong institutional confidence in Digital Halo’s execution capabilities and the broader demand for digital infrastructure in emerging Asian markets.

“We are excited to celebrate the rapid and safe delivery of JHB1. This facility represents a foundational infrastructure for the digital economy that enables businesses to grow, supports innovation, and serves as a cornerstone of digital infrastructure for many years to come,” said Kai Goh, Digital Halo’s Co-Founder and CEO. “JHB1 is only the beginning; we are dedicated to prioritising energy efficiency, delivering high-quality digital infrastructure, and responsible operations to support and accelerate a digital ecosystem in Malaysia.”

Jansen Ang, Member of Management at Infrastructure Asia, Partners Group, highlighted the strategic advantages of the location. “Johor is an ideal location, underpinned by strong connectivity, a commitment to delivering world-class energy solutions, and a business-friendly environment. We are pleased to see JHB1 fully leased to a leading customer, which strongly validates both the quality of infrastructure being developed, and Johor’s attractiveness as a destination for global digital platforms and long-term investment.”

The fully leased status of JHB1 signals strong market demand and reinforces Johor’s position as a key growth market for data center development. As the campus expands to its full 120MW capacity, it is expected to play a critical role in supporting the digital transformation of businesses across the region, providing scalable and sustainable infrastructure for cloud computing, AI workloads, and enterprise applications.
