Meta and Desri Expand Renewable Energy Partnership with 850MW in PPAs Across Three US States

Meta has signed a series of new Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with US renewable energy developer Desri, securing 850 megawatts of power across three states. The deals, announced on May 14, 2026, cover projects in Oklahoma, Texas, and Mississippi, marking another major step in the technology giant’s push to power its expanding data center operations with clean energy.

The agreements include a 500MW PPA in Oklahoma, a 200MW PPA in Texas, and a 150MW PPA in Mississippi. Specific details regarding the project locations, technology mix, and operational timelines have not been disclosed. The expansion builds on an existing relationship between Meta and Desri, bringing the total contracted volume between the two companies to more than 2.5 gigawatts. Previous deals include a 150MW PPA in Texas, a 300MW agreement in Utah, a 100MW contract in New Mexico, and a 200MW PPA in Arkansas. Desri noted that it expects 1.1GW of the contracted projects to begin construction this year.

“Our energy infrastructure partnership with Meta now spans nine states and more than two and a half gigawatts across the country,” said Hy Martin, chief development officer of Desri. “These projects support Meta's energy commitments, and they will generate significant economic development for local rural economies across the country. Our relationship with large companies like Meta is a cornerstone of Desri's long-term strategy of delivering cost-effective, reliable energy projects to power the US economy's growth.”

Amanda Yang, head of clean and renewable energy at Meta, added: “Desri has been a valued partner as we work to bring new energy to grids across the United States. This expanded partnership — now spanning nine states — reflects our commitment to supporting the communities where we operate.”

The latest PPAs are part of a broader wave of renewable energy procurement by Meta in the US market. Earlier this month, the hyperscaler signed a 250MW solar PPA in Arkansas with EDP Renewables North America. In February 2026, Meta inked an 80MW PPA with MN8 Energy tied to a solar project in Pennsylvania, and in January, it secured a long-term agreement with Origis Energy for a 303MWdc solar project in Texas.

Desri, which focuses on developing utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects, operates across 25 states with more than 12GW of aggregate capacity and a development pipeline exceeding 25GW. The deepening partnership with Meta underscores the growing demand from hyperscale data center operators for large-scale, reliable renewable energy to meet both sustainability targets and rising power consumption driven by AI and cloud computing.
