True IDC Breaks Ground on Major 250MW Hyperscale Campus in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor

April 1, 2026

Thailand's digital infrastructure landscape is set for a significant expansion as True IDC, the country's leading data center and cloud service provider, has commenced construction on a new hyperscale facility. The project underscores the intensifying competition and strategic importance of Southeast Asia as a hub for data-intensive computing and cloud services, driven by regional digitalization efforts and growing foreign investment.

The company announced this week that work has begun on the large-scale development located within Thailand's strategic Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), a prime industrial zone outside Bangkok. Upon full build-out, the campus is designed to support an IT load of up to 250 megawatts. The initial phase of the project is scheduled to be operational and ready for service by 2027.

In a statement, Thanasorn Jaidee, President of True IDC, emphasized the evolving demands on digital infrastructure. "As the leading data center and cloud service provider for 23 years, True IDC recognizes that organizations still require digital infrastructure that delivers speed," Jaidee said. "However, in today’s world, agility alone is not enough; it must be coupled with proactive security in every situation. We are committed to making this data center a vital engine in driving the Security Economy alongside the Digital Economy."

True IDC, a subsidiary of True Corporation which is ultimately owned by the Charoen Pokphand Group, solidified its financial standing in May 2025 with a strategic investment from Global Infrastructure Partners. The development follows the recent entry of a major cloud anchor tenant, with Microsoft having been revealed in October 2025 as planning to occupy space in the facility as part of its upcoming Thailand cloud region.

The new EEC campus marks a major capacity addition to True IDC's existing portfolio, which includes facilities in Thailand, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Within Thailand, the company currently operates data centers in key locations such as North Muangthong, East Bangna, Midtown Ratchada, and Midtown Pattanakarn. The 250MW project is poised to substantially enhance Thailand's appeal as a destination for hyperscale deployments, supporting both domestic digital transformation and the regional expansion strategies of global technology firms. It signals a deepening focus on integrating robust security and sovereignty considerations into large-scale data infrastructure projects within the ASEAN region.
