Hyperscale Data Acquires Major Land Parcel to Fuel AI Data Center Expansion in Michigan

Hyperscale Data Secures Land for Major Midwest AI Campus Expansion

March 31, 2026

In a strategic move to capture the booming demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure, Hyperscale Data Inc. has significantly expanded its land holdings in southwest Michigan. The company's subsidiary, Alliance Cloud Services (ACS), has acquired approximately 48.5 acres of land, more than doubling its footprint in the region and bringing its total owned acreage to 83 acres. The transaction is slated to close within the next 60 days.

This acquisition is pivotal for Hyperscale Data, a company that underwent a complete strategic pivot in 2024, shifting from a diversified holding company with interests in sectors ranging from oil to textiles to focus exclusively on AI and data centers. The land purchase is directly tied to the explosive growth in computational needs driven by generative AI and high-performance computing (HPC), sectors requiring massive, specialized data center capacity.

The newly acquired land is adjacent to Hyperscale's existing Michigan data center campus in Dowagiac, located at 415 East Prairie Ronde Street. The company acquired that 34.5-acre site, a 617,000-square-foot facility originally built in 1972, in May 2022. Hyperscale has been actively repurposing the location, transitioning part of it from Bitcoin mining to HPC and colocation services. As of early 2025, the site offered 28MW of IT capacity, but the company announced ambitious plans in February 2025 to scale this to 340MW. The first installation of Nvidia GPUs was completed at the campus in March 2025, marking its initial foray into dedicated AI infrastructure.

In a statement, Hyperscale said the land purchase provides the opportunity to expand its existing campus and "continue to address the surging demand for AI and high-performance computing." Will Horne, CEO of Hyperscale, emphasized the long-term commitment, stating, "This is a significant step in the right direction for ACS on its path to expanding its footprint in the Michigan area. This land acquisition will give us additional space and the opportunity for future development and demonstrates the Company's long-term commitment to Southwest Michigan."

The expansion in Michigan is a core part of Hyperscale's streamlined strategy. The company, now majority-owned by Ault & Company, Inc., plans to divest all non-data center assets and has scheduled the divestiture of the ACS subsidiary for the first quarter of 2027. Beyond Michigan, Hyperscale's portfolio includes a data center in Montana, where it broke ground on a new 20MW facility in 2023.
