[EVENT in China] June 14, 2022: 2022 Cloud Edge Collaboration Summit | Research Result on Distributed Cloud Releasement

The "14th Five-Year Plan" of China clearly proposes to "coordinately develop cloud services and edge computing services", and the State Council's "14th Five-Year Plan for Digital Economy Development" also points out that it is necessary to "strengthen edge computing capabilities for specific scenarios". China cloud computing has entered the development period, the demand for edge computing has surged, and cloud-edge collaboration has become an important evolution direction in the future. At the same time, the large-scale construction of 5G and the continuous deployment of edge computing drive data processing to spread to the edge, making computing power ubiquitous.

 

At the upcoming "2022 Cloud-Edge Collaboration Conference" on June 14, 2022, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) will jointly release the industry's first "Distributed Cloud Development White Paper" (《分布式云发展白皮书》). At the same time, the conference will officially release the first batch of China distributed cloud evaluation results, including "distributed cloud infrastructure service capabilities" and "distributed cloud container platform service capabilities".

 

Releasement: China First “Distributed Cloud Development White Paper” (《分布式云发展白皮书》)

 

With the development of technologies such as 5G and the IoT, the digital transformation process of enterprises has accelerated. In order to better meet the needs of enterprises for lower latency, security compliance, and unified management and control, cloud computing has been deployed from a single data center to different physical locations. It expands from a centralized architecture to a distributed architecture, and the distributed cloud becomes the evolution form of future cloud computing.

 

In order to further gather industry consensus and accelerate the development of distributed cloud implementation, at the upcoming "2022 Cloud Edge Collaboration Summit", China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) will jointly release the industry's first "Distributed Cloud Development White Paper" to explain distributed cloud development. It will explain distributed cloud’s concept, connotation, and domestic and foreign industry status of cloud, comprehensively analyze key enabling technologies such as distributed cloud infrastructure, global management, resource scheduling, native applications, and integrated security, deeply analyze the main challenges of distributed cloud development, and highlight typical application practices. The future development trend of distributed cloud is prospected.


The First Batch of Authoritative Evaluation Results of China Distributed Cloud

 

In 2022 Cloud Edge Collaboration Summit on June 14, 2022, CAICT will release the first batch of "distributed cloud infrastructure service capabilities" and "distributed cloud container platform service capabilities" trusted cloud evaluation results, highlighting the best domestic distributed cloud services ability.

 

In 2021, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology worked with dozens of enterprises and institutions to prepare the distributed cloud series standards. After practical research and discussion,  two standards document - "Distributed Cloud Service Capability Requirements Part 1: Infrastructure" and "Distributed Cloud Service Capability Requirements Part 2: Container Platform" has been formed.

 

Distributed cloud service capability evaluation is mainly for cloud service providers. The infrastructure service capability evaluation aims to evaluate the distributed cloud infrastructure in terms of computing, storage, network, global management, reliability, scalability, security capabilities, service assurance, etc. Comprehensively evaluate the infrastructure service capabilities of distributed clouds;

 

The evaluation of container platform service capabilities aims to evaluate the service capabilities of distributed cloud container platforms from the aspects of distributed cloud container deployment capabilities, cross-center, regional, edge cloud cluster management, application management, traffic governance, operation and maintenance capabilities, security, and service assurance. Build a distributed cloud operating system.

 

At present, many leading cloud service manufacturers from Tencent Cloud, Tianyi Cloud, Inspur Cloud, and Huawei Cloud have participated in the first batch of distributed cloud evaluations.
