Tencent Sets Up the First Data Center in Japan that Uses 100% Renewable Energy Power


According to news from the Nikkei Chinese website on June 1, Tencent Holdings set up the first data center in Japan that uses 100% renewable energy power in May. This is Tencent’s second data center in Japan.


Tencent mainly provides cloud services for games and live broadcasting in Japan. In the future, a joint venture company will be established with Mitsui & Co. to help Japanese companies explore the Chinese market and carry out promotions and store customer company data in data centers in Japan. Tencent plans to cope with the increase in the amount of data processed by setting up new data centers.

Currently, Tencent Cloud operates 61 availability zones in 27 regions around the world. Among them, Tencent Cloud's overseas data centers have landed in South Korea, Japan, India, Singapore, the United States, Germany, Russia, Canada, Thailand and other countries.
