Duos Edge AI Opens 450kW Modular Data Center in Corpus Christi, Texas

Duos Edge AI, a modular data center provider focused on edge computing, has launched a 450kW facility in Corpus Christi, Texas, marking a strategic expansion into the underserved coastal market of South Texas. The new site, located at 717 N. Tancahua Street, is designed to support education, healthcare, and business workloads, bridging a critical gap in local digital infrastructure.

The facility was first referenced in a company announcement last July, with initial plans indicating that the modules would be delivered by the end of July 2025. While the exact timeline of the facility’s online status remains unclear, Duos confirmed the opening in a press release on Wednesday and announced an open house for the data center scheduled for May 12. The company has not yet responded to requests for further comment on the deployment schedule.

Each Duos Edge AI module houses 15 cabinets within a compact 55-foot by 13-foot pod, capable of supporting up to 100kW per rack, making it a high-density solution tailored for latency-sensitive applications. The Corpus Christi deployment is part of a broader push across Texas, with previously installed modules in Amarillo, Victoria, Waco, and Dumas—most of which are co-located with school districts to support educational workloads.

Duos Edge AI was founded in 2024 as a spin-off from Duos Technologies, a vision-based technology firm specializing in automated inspections of trains, trucks, and automobiles. The new entity is led by industry veteran Recker, who previously founded EdgePresence and Colo5, bringing deep expertise in edge infrastructure. Although Corpus Christi is not a major data center hub, neighboring facilities from Lumen and Hut 8 in the surrounding area, as listed on Data Center Map, suggest a growing interest in the region’s connectivity potential.

The expansion underscores the rising demand for localized computing power, particularly in underserved secondary markets where traditional hyperscale data centers are not viable. By targeting municipal and educational use cases, Duos Edge AI is positioning itself as a key player in the edge computing landscape, offering a scalable model that could be replicated in other coastal and rural communities across the U.S.
