Ascenty Launches SPO05 Data Center in São Paulo, Begins Construction on SPO06

Brazilian data center operator Ascenty has officially launched operations at its SPO05 facility in Greater São Paulo, marking a significant step in expanding the region’s digital infrastructure. The company also announced the start of construction on SPO06, a sister facility on the same campus, underscoring its commitment to meeting growing demand for cloud and AI workloads in Latin America.

SPO05, first announced in July 2025, became operational following an investment of 300 million reais ($55 million). The facility is designed to support a wide range of applications, from traditional enterprise workloads to high-density computing and artificial intelligence solutions. According to Ascenty, the new data center reflects a total investment of approximately 600 million reais ($121.5 million) for the campus expansion.

Construction on SPO06 is already underway and is scheduled for completion in May 2027. Together, the two facilities will add 26 megawatts of capacity to the campus, reinforcing Ascenty’s position as one of the leading data center providers in the region. “This expansion reinforces our long-term vision in Brazil, offering robust infrastructure ready for next-generation applications,” said Marcos Siqueira, chief revenue officer and head of strategy at Ascenty.

Founded in 2010, Ascenty is currently owned through a joint venture established by Brookfield and Digital Realty in 2018, when the firms acquired the company for $1.8 billion. The operator now manages approximately 36 facilities across Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Colombia, with 25 in operation and 11 under construction or development. Last year, Ascenty also announced plans for two additional data centers in the São Paulo area, SPO07 and SPO08, which will be built on a 47,430-square-meter plot acquired in 2023. Those facilities will offer 40 megawatts of capacity and represent an investment of roughly 1.5 billion reais ($275.3 million).

The rapid expansion reflects broader trends in the Latin American data center market, where demand for cloud services, AI processing, and low-latency connectivity is accelerating. Ascenty’s ongoing investments in the São Paulo region highlight the area’s strategic importance as a digital hub for the continent, and the company’s ability to deliver high-density infrastructure tailored to next-generation computing needs.
