Indus Cloud, UBL, and Indus DC REIT Join Forces to Build Tier III Data Centers and Cloud Platform Across Pakistan
A strategic partnership between Indus Cloud, Indus DC REIT, and United Bank Limited (UBL) is set to accelerate the development of cloud computing and data center infrastructure across Pakistan, marking a significant step forward for the country’s digital economy. The collaboration aims to establish Tier III standard data centers nationwide, from which Indus Cloud’s cloud platform will be delivered to enterprises and government entities.
Under the agreement, Indus DC REIT will be responsible for developing and operating the data center facilities, while Indus Cloud will provide the cloud services layer, designed to support high-performance computing workloads and ensure data sovereignty in compliance with stringent security standards. UBL joins the initiative as both an investor and a strategic partner, and will also become an anchor tenant, leveraging the resulting digital infrastructure to support its ongoing digital transformation.
Rumman Dar, CEO of Indus Cloud and DC REIT, highlighted the significance of the deal, stating: “This partnership represents a defining moment for Pakistan’s cloud ecosystem. By combining world-class infrastructure with localized cloud capabilities, we are enabling enterprises to confidently transition to the cloud while ensuring data sovereignty, security, and performance. Our vision is to make Indus Cloud the backbone of Pakistan’s digital future.” Farrukh Karim Khan, chief strategy officer at UBL, added: “UBL is committed to supporting transformative initiatives that strengthen Pakistan’s digital and financial ecosystem. Our partnership with Indus Cloud and Indus REIT not only aligns with our strategic priorities but also positions us at the forefront of innovation in cloud-enabled banking and infrastructure development.”
Specific locations for the new data centers have not yet been disclosed, nor have timelines for construction and deployment been provided. However, Indus Cloud already operates a 3.5MW facility in Lahore and a larger site in Nooriabad with up to 20MW of capacity, according to the company’s website. This latest deal is not the only cloud-focused partnership Indus has recently pursued. Last month, the company partnered with Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) to bring cloud services to the country, leveraging PTCL’s infrastructure and a Huawei cloud stack. That agreement followed a separate announcement in August 2025 with Huawei to jointly establish a data center for cloud services.
Pakistan’s data center market remains relatively small but is showing signs of growth. According to Data Center Map, the country currently hosts 30 data centers spread across three key markets: Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad. Operators in the region include PTCL, Multinet, Chapal, Supernet, Cybernet, and Vision Telecom, among others. The partnership between Indus Cloud, Indus DC REIT, and UBL is expected to inject new capacity and competition into this emerging market, potentially positioning Indus Cloud as a central platform for the country’s digital future.
