Empyrion Digital Breaks Ground on First Thailand Data Center, a 20MW AI-Ready Facility in Bangkok
Singapore-headquartered data center platform Empyrion Digital has officially broken ground on its first facility in Thailand, marking the company's entry into one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing digital infrastructure markets. The 20MW data center, designated TH1, is located in Bang Na, an emerging connectivity hub on the eastern outskirts of Bangkok, and is scheduled to go live in the third quarter of 2027.
The facility is situated on a site spanning over 17,000 square meters and has already secured power and connectivity agreements with major fiber providers in the Bangkok metropolitan area. Designed to support hyperscalers, cloud service providers, and high-density AI workloads, TH1 underscores the growing demand for purpose-built digital infrastructure in the region. As enterprises across Southeast Asia accelerate their adoption of artificial intelligence and cloud computing, the need for low-latency, scalable, and energy-efficient data centers has become a strategic priority.
Mark Fong, CEO of Empyrion Digital, said the groundbreaking represents an important milestone in the company’s continued expansion across Asia. “Thailand is a strategic market and an increasingly vital hub for hyperscale, enterprise cloud and AI-driven workloads in Southeast Asia,” Fong stated. “Our investment underscores our commitment to delivering future-ready, AI-enabled digital infrastructure in locations where our customers are scaling and innovating.”
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Empyrion Digital also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TCC Technology (TCCtech), a Thai connectivity provider. Under the agreement, TCCtech will extend its fiber optic network into TH1, enabling tenants to access over 50 networks within its ecosystem and direct connectivity to eight major Internet Exchanges (IXPs). The partnership is expected to deliver lower latency performance, greater routing diversity, and broader domestic and regional reach for enterprises operating in Thailand and across the ASEAN region.
Veerapat Reungdej, Assistant Managing Director of TCC Technology, said the collaboration reinforces TCCtech’s long-standing commitment to building a strong, open, and future-ready connectivity ecosystem for Thailand. “Our collaboration with Empyrion Digital reinforces this mission by extending our fibre footprint and interconnection capabilities to TH1,” Reungdej noted. “Together, we aim to deliver a high-performance environment that empowers businesses with the speed, reliability, and scalability needed to thrive in the digital economy.”
The entry of Empyrion Digital into Thailand highlights the intensifying competition among regional data center operators to capture demand from hyperscale cloud providers and AI-driven enterprises. With TH1, the company positions itself as a key player in Thailand’s digital transformation, offering infrastructure that combines power capacity, connectivity, and scalability in a single strategic location.
