Meta Signs 250MW Solar PPA with EDP Renewables NA for Arkansas Project

Meta has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) to procure 250 megawatts of solar energy from a new project in Arkansas, marking the latest expansion of the tech giant’s renewable energy portfolio in 2026.

The agreement will support the development of the Cypress Knee Solar project in Chicot County, Arkansas, which is expected to become operational in 2028. This deal represents the third PPA signed between Meta and EDPR NA, bringing the total contracted capacity across the three agreements to 545 megawatts. The two previous PPAs were located in Texas, tied to the 240MW True North solar farm in Falls County and the 240MW Cattlemen Solar Park in Milam County.

“Through our partnership with EDPR, Cypress Knee Solar will bring new generation to the Arkansas grid, creating local jobs and delivering economic benefits to the community. We’re proud to expand our collaboration with EDPR,” said Amanda Yang, head of Clean and Renewable Energy at Meta.

Sandhya Ganapathy, CEO of EDPR NA, emphasized the broader significance of the partnership, stating: “Cypress Knee Solar and our broader portfolio of projects with Meta are helping power a reliable, modern US electric grid—the backbone of American innovation and long-term economic growth. These investments strengthen local communities, create durable economic value, and ensure that progress is built on a resilient, sustainable foundation.” She added that EDPR NA is proud to work with Meta to deliver domestic power and advanced infrastructure that reinforce American energy independence and expand economic opportunity nationwide.

Meta has already signed several PPAs in 2026, continuing its aggressive push into renewable energy procurement. In February, the company inked an 80MW PPA with MN8 Energy tied to a solar project in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, and in January, it signed a long-term PPA with Origis Energy to offtake power from a 303MWdc solar project in Texas.

EDPR NA, the North American division of Portuguese-based renewable developer EDP Renewables, currently operates more than 12.3 gigawatts of utility-scale wind and solar capacity across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Beyond its agreements with Meta, the company has also secured long-term supply agreements with Amazon in Mississippi and with Microsoft in Illinois and Texas, underscoring its role as a key partner for major technology firms seeking to meet their sustainability targets.
