Ameriabank Commits $60 Million to Firebird.ai's Landmark 100MW AI Data Center in Armenia

The race to build foundational AI infrastructure is expanding into new geographic frontiers, with Armenia emerging as a significant hub. This development is underscored by a major financial commitment from a leading local institution to a U.S.-based AI cloud venture, signaling growing confidence in the region's technological potential.
Ameriabank, a prominent Armenian bank, has announced a $60 million investment to finance the construction of a cutting-edge AI data center by Firebird.ai. The facility, first announced in June 2025, is a cornerstone of a $500 million public-private partnership with the Armenian government. Designed for a capacity of 100MW, the data center represents a strategic move to position Armenia at the forefront of high-performance computing.
Firebird.ai's procurement strategy for the project has been aggressive. Following an initial announcement mentioning "thousands" of Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, the company secured a U.S. export license in February for an additional 41,000 Nvidia GB300 GPUs. This second-phase acquisition brings its total procurement to 50,000 units, representing a $4 billion investment that Firebird claims will create "one of the world's top five largest AI GPU clusters." The project is being developed in collaboration with industry giants Nvidia and Dell Technologies.
In its statement, Ameriabank highlighted the transformative potential of the facility, stating it will become "the most powerful in the region" and will enable local and international research institutions, tech companies, and enterprises to deploy modern AI technologies at scale. This investment coincides with a broader surge in Armenia's AI infrastructure, evidenced by local startup Eleveight AI's recent deployment of 512 Nvidia B300 GPUs in a renewable-energy-powered data center.
The Ameriabank financing solidifies the project's trajectory and underscores a significant trend: the globalization of AI compute power. By attracting substantial capital and top-tier hardware, Armenia is carving out a niche as a competitive destination for high-density computing, potentially altering the regional technology landscape and offering new options for global enterprises seeking AI capacity.
