SDT Unveils Landmark Quantum-AI Hybrid Facility in Seoul's Gangnam District
March 18, 2026
South Korea has taken a significant step toward industrializing quantum computing with the launch of its first commercial quantum data center. SDT Inc. has officially opened its Quantum-AI Hybrid Data Center in Seoul's Gangnam district, marking a pivotal shift from purely academic and national laboratory research to commercially available quantum computing infrastructure.
The centerpiece of the new facility is the deployment of "Kreo," a 20-qubit superconducting quantum computer. In a notable industry integration, this quantum processing unit (QPU) is directly coupled with Nvidia's DGX B200 AI systems using Nvidia's NVQLink platform, creating a unified hybrid computing architecture. This system is housed within SDT's proprietary AquaRack immersion-cooling environment, which utilizes a single-phase fluid. The company states this cooling solution can reduce associated power loads by up to 90 percent while supporting high-density racks with a capacity of up to 45kW per 21U enclosure.
SDT described the launch as the culmination of its full-stack Quantum Design & Manufacturing (QDM) capabilities, spanning hardware design, fabrication, and system integration. The architecture pairs the Kreo QPU and its dedicated Qubit Controller Unit (QCU) with the classical processing power of the Nvidia systems. This setup is designed to create low-latency workflows for complex applications like chemistry simulation, financial portfolio optimization, and logistics planning. Within this hybrid model, the DGX B200 clusters manage numerically intensive tasks such as data encoding and variational optimization, while the quantum processor handles latency-sensitive computational kernels.
"Until now, quantum computing has largely remained within the realm of academic research in Korea," said Jiwon Yune, CEO of SDT. "Starting today, we are redefining quantum as a practical business tool for immediate value creation. By operating this system in Gangnam—the business heart of Korea—we are demonstrating that quantum computing is no longer a distant concept, but a tangible solution ready to engage with real industrial challenges."
The launch positions South Korea among the frontrunners in the global race to commercialize quantum-hybrid computing. By situating this advanced capability in a major commercial hub, SDT aims to accelerate adoption across finance, materials science, and logistics, potentially unlocking new avenues for innovation and competitive advantage for Korean enterprises.
