Bell Canada to Build 300MW AI Data Center Campus in Saskatchewan, Secured by CoreWeave and Cerebras

Bell Canada Announces Major AI Data Center Investment in Saskatchewan

March 16, 2026

In a significant move to expand Canada's domestic artificial intelligence infrastructure, Bell Canada has unveiled plans for a new 300-megawatt data center campus in Saskatchewan. The project underscores the intensifying race to build high-performance compute capacity to support the burgeoning AI industry, shifting development focus beyond Canada's traditional data center hubs.

Bell, in partnership with the Government of Saskatchewan, confirmed the development will be located on a 160-acre greenfield site in the Rural Municipality of Sherwood, near Regina. The facility is strategically positioned close to an existing SaskPower substation and will connect to Bell’s national fiber network through SaskTel. Construction is set to begin in spring 2026, with the campus coming online in phases. The first data halls are expected to be operational in the first half of 2027, reaching full build-out by year-end.

Notably, the entire 300MW campus has been pre-leased to two leading AI cloud firms: CoreWeave and Cerebras Systems. This represents Bell's largest-ever investment in Saskatchewan. Mirko Bibic, President and CEO of BCE and Bell Canada, stated the project is part of the company's "Bell AI Fabric" initiative, aimed at building a "digital backbone to power the future of the Canadian economy." He emphasized that the investment would deliver "cutting-edge, high-performance compute necessary to innovate at speed" and bring major economic benefits to the province.

The deal marks a substantial expansion for both tenant companies in the Canadian market. CoreWeave, which reports having approximately 850MW of active power across its fleet, sees the Saskatchewan campus as key to serving the country's AI ecosystem. "We're excited to work with Bell AI Fabric to deliver the high-performance AI infrastructure researchers, enterprises, and developers need to innovate at scale," said CoreWeave COO Sachin Jain. For Cerebras, known for its wafer-scale AI chips, the partnership aligns with a vision of sovereign AI infrastructure. "AI is becoming foundational national infrastructure," said CEO Andrew Feldman, noting the partnership allows Cerebras to "bring industry-leading AI compute to Canada."

This project is a cornerstone of Bell's broader national strategy to build AI-optimized data centers. It follows the company's 2025 announcement of plans for several facilities in British Columbia and partnerships in Manitoba and Ontario. The Saskatchewan campus significantly diversifies Canada's data center geography, which has been heavily concentrated around Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, and could catalyze further tech investment in the region.
