Bridge Data Centres Announces Multi-Billion Dollar Investment in Singapore's Digital Infrastructure

Bridge Data Centres Unveils Major Singapore Investment Plan

March 13, 2026

Bridge Data Centres has announced a strategic investment plan ranging between S$3 billion and S$5 billion (approximately $2.3 billion to $4 billion) to develop next-generation digital infrastructure in Singapore. This significant commitment marks a pivotal moment for the city-state's data center landscape, which has been cautiously reopening to new developments after years of capacity constraints driven by energy sustainability concerns.

The company, owned by private investment firm Bain Capital, stated it is "uniquely positioned to support hyperscaler customers and global technology companies seeking high-performance, sustainable and scalable data center platforms across Asia Pacific." Although Bridge is headquartered in Singapore, this investment represents its first major foray into building facilities within the country, as its existing and developing portfolio of over 1GW of planned capacity is located in Malaysia, India, and Thailand.

The announcement aligns with Bridge's broader regional expansion strategy, which aims to grow its total capacity to approximately 2GW by 2030. The investment comes as Singapore methodically eases a moratorium on new data centers that was instituted in 2019. The government began lifting restrictions through a pilot scheme in 2022, leading to an 80MW allocation to several operators in 2023. More recently, authorities have outlined plans for a 700MW facility on Jurong Island and have called for proposals to develop at least an additional 200MW of capacity.

Bridge's planned multi-billion dollar infusion signals strong, renewed investor confidence in Singapore's long-term role as a premier Asian data hub, underpinned by its strategic location and fiber connectivity. The scale of the investment is poised to substantially augment the nation's digital infrastructure, catering to the escalating demands of hyperscalers and global enterprises while adhering to evolving sustainability mandates.
