Sharon AI to Deploy Major 1,000-GPU Nvidia B200 Cluster in Melbourne

January 30, 2026

In a significant move for the Asia-Pacific region's artificial intelligence infrastructure, Australian neocloud provider Sharon AI has announced plans to deploy a large-scale computing cluster comprising 1,000 Nvidia B200 GPUs. The hardware will be housed at NextDC's M3 data center in Melbourne, marking a substantial expansion of the company's existing "Supercluster" at the facility. The deployment underscores the intensifying global race for advanced AI compute capacity. As enterprises and research institutions increasingly require vast processing power for training and running complex AI models, access to cutting-edge GPU clusters like Nvidia's latest B200 series has become a critical strategic differentiator. This investment positions Sharon AI to capture growing demand within the Australian and broader APAC markets. The announcement builds upon a 50-megawatt capacity expansion agreement Sharon AI signed with NextDC in late 2025. The company already leases space at the M3 facility, where its Supercluster is ultimately projected to scale beyond 20,000 Nvidia B200, B300, or GB300 GPUs. Currently, approximately 1,000 GPUs are operational at the site. Sharon AI has not provided a specific timeline for the installation of the newly announced 1,000-unit B200 cluster. The expansion will be facilitated through Sharon AI's existing Lenovo TruScale agreement, integrating Lenovo's high-density servers with Vast Data's storage fabric. James Manning, CEO and Chairman of Sharon AI, framed the deployment as essential for regional technological sovereignty. "This expansion is about more than just raw capacity; it is about providing the specialized, sovereign architectural depth that the next era of AI requires," Manning stated. "By bringing 1,000 B200 GPUs to Australia, we are ensuring that AI natives, research, enterprise, and government organizations in the Asia-Pacific region have immediate access to world-class compute." The capital for this and other infrastructure growth is supported by recent financing. Last week, Sharon AI secured a $500 million debt facility, following a $100 million convertible note capital raise completed in December 2025. The company also recently underwent a leadership transition, with co-founder James Manning assuming the CEO role. For NextDC, this deployment represents a major high-density compute tenancy, reinforcing the strategic importance of its M3 data center as a hub for advanced AI workloads in the region. The deal highlights the evolving role of colocation providers in supporting the massive power and cooling requirements of next-generation AI hardware. Source: datacenterdynamics
