Carrier Connect Expands Canadian Footprint with Acquisition of Carbon60 Data Center Assets

Carrier Connect Acquires New Brunswick Data Center, Bolstering National Portfolio January 28, 2026 In a strategic move to consolidate its position in the Canadian data center market, Vancouver-based Carrier Connect has announced the acquisition of key data center assets from New Brunswick managed services provider Carbon60. The transaction underscores the ongoing trend of consolidation within the North American colocation sector, as operators seek to expand their geographic reach and customer base through targeted acquisitions. The deal, structured through Carrier Connect's PureColo subsidiary, involves a cash payment of $1.6 million for the Saint John facility. According to the company's investor materials, the acquired data center comprises three fully built-out data halls with a total capacity of 500kW and currently serves more than 20 customers. The parties have entered into a non-binding letter of intent, with a deadline to finalize the agreement set for February 15. Mark Binns, CEO of Carrier Connect, highlighted the strategic value of the acquisition, stating, "The Saint John data center is the perfect addition to the Carrier portfolio, giving us national coverage from British Columbia to Atlantic Canada. We are acquiring an excellent portfolio of long term customers and a facility that will be highly autonomous to manage, with expansion possibilities." For Carbon60, a company owned by investment firm M/C Partners, the divestiture allows a sharper focus on its core cloud and managed services business. Ryan Smyth, President and CEO of Carbon60, noted that the transaction enables his firm to "continue to operate in those same facilities while sharpening its focus on providing tailored cloud consulting and managed services across private cloud, AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms for our maritime customers." This acquisition marks the latest step in Carrier Connect's aggressive expansion strategy. Founded in 2019, the company has rapidly evolved from a small presence in a Vancouver carrier hotel into an international operator with a stated mission to consolidate Tier II and III colocation facilities. In the past year alone, Carrier Connect has acquired PureColo in Ottawa and a 2MW facility in Perth, Australia, significantly boosting its total capacity and rack count. The New Brunswick acquisition not only extends its coast-to-coast footprint within Canada but also adds a stable, revenue-generating asset with potential for future growth, reflecting the competitive dynamics and investment appetite within the secondary data center market.
