Spalding County Approves $3.9 Billion Data Center Campus Near Atlanta January 28, 2026 A major data center development project, valued at $3.9 billion, has received the green light in Georgia, underscoring the continued expansion of digital infrastructure in the southeastern United States to meet surging demand from cloud computing and artificial intelligence. The Spalding County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved three zoning requests on January 22, clearing the way for applicant Wallace Jackson LLC to construct a massive data center campus. The project, located on a 190-acre site at 5745 and 5841 Jackson Road, is planned to comprise up to ten buildings totaling nearly five million square feet (463,215 square meters) upon full build-out, which is targeted for 2035. The land is owned by Doug of Havenwood Holdings, believed to be local developer Doug Adams, who has a history with large-scale industrial projects in the state. This approval is the latest in a series for Spalding County, which has actively courted data center investments for their significant tax revenue benefits. Just last year, the county approved two other campuses with a combined footprint of 3.9 million square feet. Industry analysts note that Spalding County’s strategic location, approximately 40 miles (64 kilometers) south of Atlanta, provides proximity to major fiber networks and power infrastructure while offering more available land than the crowded metropolitan core. The scale of this investment highlights the intense capital flowing into the sector to build capacity for next-generation computing workloads. Source: datacenterdynamics
