Vantage Data Centers Completes 30MW QC61 Facility in Montreal

Vantage Data Centers Completes 30MW QC61 Facility in Montreal January 7, 2026 Vantage Data Centers has completed construction of its latest data center in the Montreal metropolitan area, marking a significant expansion of its Canadian footprint and reinforcing the region's status as a key North American hub for digital infrastructure. The completion comes as demand for cloud, AI, and enterprise computing capacity continues to surge, with operators seeking locations that offer reliable, low-carbon power and strategic connectivity. The newly operational facility, designated QC61, is located at Vantage's Montreal III campus in Baie-D'Urfe. Construction on the eight-acre site began in January 2022, with all phases delivered by December 2025. The single-building data center offers 30 megawatts of IT load capacity. It is equipped with closed-loop chillers and air cooling systems and features four diverse fiber entry points alongside four meet-me rooms to ensure robust connectivity. Power is supplied by a dedicated 45MW on-campus substation with a direct private connection to Hydro-Quebec's grid. In a LinkedIn post announcing the milestone, Vantage stated, "This project represents far more than a build. It reflects the very core of who we are at Vantage Data Centers." The company entered the Canadian market in 2019 through the acquisition of 4Degrees Colocation and later expanded its portfolio by purchasing Hypertec's Canadian data center business in 2020. With the addition of QC61, Vantage now operates or is developing four campuses across Quebec City and Montreal. Upon full build-out, these campuses are projected to deliver a combined total of 178 megawatts of computing capacity. This latest completion is part of a CAD $900 million expansion plan the company announced for Canada in 2022. The expansion underscores the strategic importance of the Quebec market, which is attractive to hyperscalers and large enterprises due to its abundant hydroelectric power, which offers a lower-carbon energy profile, and its geographic position as a gateway between North American and European networks. Vantage's continued investment signals strong, long-term confidence in the region's growth potential for data-intensive services. Source: datacenterdynamics
