Hitachi Vantara considers Uzbekistan as a regional hub for IT outsourcing and data centers

Hitachi Vantara Explores Uzbekistan for Regional IT and Data Center Hub

December 28, 2025

In a significant move highlighting Central Asia's growing appeal for digital infrastructure investment, Japanese technology giant Hitachi Vantara is considering establishing a major regional hub in Uzbekistan. This development underscores the intensifying competition among nations to attract global tech firms seeking strategic, cost-effective locations for IT outsourcing and data center operations.

The potential expansion follows a high-level working meeting in Tashkent between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, and the management of Hitachi Vantara. During the talks, the Uzbek side presented the country as a promising destination, detailing state initiatives designed to foster IT sector growth. Key incentives discussed included favorable tax and customs regimes for residents of the country's IT Park, a supportive business environment, and government-backed programs for training and retraining IT personnel.

Central to the discussions were the prospects of Hitachi Vantara setting up a regional office in Uzbekistan. The company’s interest spans developing IT outsourcing services, building data infrastructure and operating data centers, training local specialists, and implementing joint projects with both public and private entities. Uzbekistan’s strategic geography, providing access to the CIS and neighboring markets, coupled with its growing pool of qualified specialists, were cited as compelling factors for the investment.

The exploration signals a potential major influx of capital and expertise into Uzbekistan's digital economy. For Hitachi Vantara, a foothold in Uzbekistan could serve as a strategic gateway to serve a broader Eurasian region, diversifying its global delivery and infrastructure footprint. Both parties agreed to continue cooperation, with concrete steps defined to advance the initiatives, which include promoting Uzbekistan as a regional platform and launching outsourcing activities alongside data center establishment.
