AirTrunk Announces Major Expansion in Japan with Second Osaka Hyperscale Campus December 17, 2025 Asia-Pacific hyperscale data center specialist AirTrunk is significantly expanding its investment in Japan, a key market for cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company has announced plans to develop a second, large-scale campus in Osaka, underscoring the intense demand for digital capacity in the region. The new facility, to be named OSK2, will be located in East Osaka and is designed to deliver up to 100 megawatts (MW) of total IT capacity. This development will complement AirTrunk's first Osaka data center, OSK1, which offers 20MW and is situated in West Osaka. The company did not disclose a specific timeline for the construction and delivery of OSK2. This strategic move will substantially increase AirTrunk's footprint in Japan. Upon completion, OSK2 will bring the company's total capacity in the country to 530MW. To date, AirTrunk has invested approximately $1.57 billion (JPY 244 billion) into its Japanese operations. Robin Khuda, founder and CEO of AirTrunk, emphasized the country's strategic importance, stating, "Japan plays a pivotal role in AirTrunk’s platform growth across Asia-Pacific. As Japan’s cloud and AI adoption accelerates, our continued investment in Osaka and Tokyo reflects our long-term commitment to building the scalable infrastructure that underpins this transformation." The expansion marks a major milestone for AirTrunk, which was acquired by Blackstone and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board in a landmark $16.1 billion deal last year. OSK2 will become the company's 14th data center campus across the APAC region, pushing its total portfolio capacity beyond 2 gigawatts. Nori Matsushita, AirTrunk's country head for Japan, noted the broader impact of the investment: "By expanding in Osaka, we’re not only meeting the growing demand for hyperscale and AI infrastructure but also creating new opportunities for local talent, suppliers, and communities. This investment strengthens Japan’s position as a digital leader in Asia-Pacific."
