Pure DC Lands Major Hyperscale Lease for 78MW Amsterdam Campus December 16, 2025 In a significant move within Europe's constrained data center market, Pure Data Centres Group (Pure DC) has secured a major hyperscale tenant for its entire planned 78MW campus in Amsterdam, marking what the company calls the largest standalone hyperscale data center lease in Europe for 2025. The deal underscores the intense demand for high-quality, low-latency digital infrastructure in key European hubs, particularly in Amsterdam where regulatory restrictions have limited new supply. An unnamed hyperscale customer has pre-leased the full capacity of the AMS01 campus, located on a 5.6-acre site in the Westpoort area. Pure DC is investing over €1 billion (approximately $877 million) to develop the facility, which was acquired on a long leasehold from the Port of Amsterdam. The campus will consist of three multi-story buildings, each delivering 26MW of IT capacity, totaling 94,660 square meters (over 1 million square feet) of space. A private substation with a 100MVA connection to the 50kV grid has already been constructed and is operational, with construction of the data halls scheduled to commence in January 2026. Commenting on the transaction, Dame Dawn Childs, CEO of Pure Data Centres, stated: "Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most constrained markets for digital infrastructure, and Pure DC has again demonstrated its ability to unlock new low-latency, high-quality capacity. This deal demonstrates how our specialist teams have the creativity and approach to deliver compelling proposals for even previously distressed assets." The lease represents a major commitment for Pure DC, a company owned by investment firm Oaktree Capital Management. It significantly boosts the firm's development pipeline, which now exceeds 500MW of capacity live or under construction across global markets including London, Madrid, Abu Dhabi, and Jakarta. For the hyperscale sector, the deal provides crucial new capacity in a core European market facing supply challenges, potentially easing pressure on the region's digital infrastructure.
