Gibo Holdings Announces Major AI Data Center Project in Malaysia

Gibo Holdings Announces Major AI Data Center Project in Malaysia December 12, 2025 As the global demand for artificial intelligence compute power surges, Southeast Asia is emerging as a key battleground for data center development. In a significant move to capitalize on this trend, Nasdaq-listed AI-generated content platform provider Gibo Holdings has unveiled plans to build a new AI-optimized data center in Malaysia, marking a substantial expansion of its infrastructure footprint. The company is in the planning phase for a facility with an initial capacity of over 30 megawatts (MW), designed specifically to house a cluster of 14,000 GPUs for AI model training and inference workloads. While the exact location within Malaysia has not been finalized, Gibo has identified several potential regions for its expansion, including Sarawak, Johor, Penang, and Greater Kuala Lumpur. The project represents the first phase of a much larger ambition. Gibo intends to scale the site into a 100MW multi-zone AI campus and eventually develop it into a flagship 200MW facility. To manage the intense thermal demands of high-density AI computing, the company stated its data centers will employ advanced liquid or immersion cooling technologies to enhance energy efficiency. Gibo, which launched its AIGC animation streaming platform in 2023, aims to establish this AI data center network within the next three to five years. The company said the infrastructure will "help support the growing demand for compute power" and aims to "bring intelligent systems to various industries." This development underscores the rapid growth of Malaysia's data center market, which has attracted significant investment due to its strategic location and growing digital economy. Operators are increasingly looking at hubs like Johor for its proximity to Singapore, while Kuala Lumpur and Cyberjaya remain established centers of activity. Gibo's entry adds a new, AI-focused player to this competitive landscape, signaling the region's escalating importance in the global AI infrastructure race. Source: datacenterdynamics
