Pasqal's Quantum Technology Expands European Cloud Access December 8, 2025 The race to make quantum computing more accessible to researchers and enterprises has taken a significant step forward in Europe. French quantum computing company Pasqal has announced the integration of its neutral-atom quantum processors into Scaleway's cloud infrastructure, marking a key expansion of sovereign quantum resources available to the continent's developers. Under the new partnership, Pasqal's quantum processing units (QPUs) will be made available through Scaleway's Quantum-as-a-Service (QaaS) platform. This move provides European users with direct cloud access to quantum hardware via sovereign infrastructure, a growing priority for both research and industrial applications. The specific systems being integrated are from Pasqal's "Orion Gamma" generation, which utilize up to 100 qubits. These devices leverage neutral-atom technology, where individual atoms are precisely controlled with lasers to perform calculations, a method the company states is well-suited for large-scale simulation and optimization problems. The quantum computers are physically housed in Pasqal's own data centers located in Massy, France, and Sherbrooke, Canada, with access provided through Scaleway's unified cloud portal. A digital twin of the quantum system, powered by an Nvidia A100 DGX cluster, is also part of the offering to aid in development and testing. Jaap Kautz, VP of Product at Pasqal, commented on the integration's significance: "Scaleway’s unified cloud access to quantum hardware marks an important new step in making quantum computing more seamless for users. Combined with the capabilities of the Pasqal Cloud Platform, this integration strengthens the ecosystem and expands the options available to developers and organizations exploring real-world quantum applications." This integration positions Scaleway's QaaS platform as a growing hub for diverse quantum technologies, as it already provides access to photonic QPUs from Quandela. For Pasqal, the deal represents another major cloud channel, adding to its existing availability on OVHcloud's Quantum Platform in Europe and through the quantum cloud services of Google and Microsoft. The announcement, made at the recent ai-PULSE event, underscores the accelerating trend of hybrid quantum-classical computing, where specialized quantum processors are increasingly offered alongside traditional high-performance computing resources like the Nvidia Blackwell Ultra GPU cluster also unveiled by Scaleway.
