Aston Martin F1 Team Proposes New On-Site Data Center at Silverstone Headquarters

October 29, 2025

The Aston Martin Formula One Team has submitted plans to construct a new, bespoke data center at its headquarters adjacent to the Silverstone race track in Northamptonshire, UK.

According to a planning application filed with the West Northamptonshire Council, the project involves the demolition of an existing temporary modular workshop building to make way for the new facility. The proposed development also includes a bridge link, landscaping, and other associated works for the F1 team.

The planned two-story data center building will span 1,400 square meters (approximately 15,080 square feet). The facility's cooling will be managed by air handling units and external VRF refrigeration units.

A supporting planning statement from the team highlighted the urgency of the project, noting that the company is currently operating from several leasehold properties. The team described this fragmented setup as a "situation that we urgently need to address to increase our efficiency."

"The proposed development includes the construction of a data center facility, which will provide space for on-site data storage and management and support the team’s continued growth," the statement elaborated. "The new building is a bespoke facility, with a layout that facilitates the data center performance requirements and associated ancillary workshop and office/meeting space."

The facility's planned location is near Aston Martin's existing wind tunnel building, a critical asset used for testing and simulating vehicle performance.

A decision from the West Northamptonshire Council on the planning application is expected by December 8, 2025.

The move to bolster its on-site digital infrastructure aligns with the team's recent technological partnerships. Aston Martin is a known customer of NetApp for storage solutions and, earlier this year, named AI cloud provider CoreWeave as its official AI cloud partner.
