Brazilian Firm Tecto Expands National Footprint with 20MW Mega Lobster Data Center in Fortaleza

October 27, 2025

In a significant move to bolster digital infrastructure in Northeast Brazil, technology company Tecto has announced the launch of its new 20-megawatt (MW) data center, named "Mega Lobster," in the state of Ceará.

The new facility, located in the capital city of Fortaleza, marks a major expansion of Tecto's presence in the region. The 20MW capacity is designed to meet the rising demand for cloud computing, data storage, and IT services from both national and international enterprises.

While specific financial details and an exact inauguration date were not disclosed in the announcement made on October 28, 2025, the project underscores a strategic push to develop Ceará into a key digital hub. The state, and Fortaleza in particular, is already a critical landing point for several international submarine telecommunications cables, providing direct connectivity to North America, Europe, and Africa.

The Mega Lobster data center is expected to leverage this unique geographic advantage, offering low-latency connections and robust data handling capabilities. The expansion is poised to attract further investment to the region and support the growing digital economy by providing essential infrastructure for sectors ranging from finance to technology.

This development aligns with a broader national trend of expanding data center capacity across Brazil to keep pace with the country's rapidly digitizing economy and increasing data consumption.
