INNIO, a leading provider of renewable gas, hydrogen-powered, and other low-carbon energy solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with VoltaGrid, an innovator in sustainable power generation and digital control systems. The collaboration is centered on delivering resilient and low-carbon power for a massive 2.3-gigawatt (GW) data center project.
The partnership will leverage VoltaGrid's proprietary digital energy platform to optimize the performance and efficiency of the power infrastructure. This platform is designed to provide real-time monitoring, emissions tracking, and predictive analytics for the complex energy needs of large-scale data centers.
INNIO's role will be to supply its highly efficient, flexible Jenbacher gas engines. These engines are capable of running on natural gas and are designed to be ready for renewable hydrogen blends, providing a pathway for the data center to significantly reduce its carbon footprint over time. This approach ensures a reliable power supply while aligning with the growing demand for sustainable operations in the technology sector.
"This collaboration represents a significant step forward in powering the digital economy with cleaner, more reliable energy," said a spokesperson for INNIO. "By combining our technologies, we can offer a compelling solution that meets the critical demands of data centers for both uptime and environmental responsibility."
The 2.3-GW project underscores the rapidly increasing power demands of the global data center industry, driven by cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and expanding digital services. The INNIO-VoltaGrid model presents a viable alternative to traditional grid power, offering enhanced control, improved sustainability credentials, and greater energy security for mission-critical facilities.
Financial terms of the partnership and the specific location of the data center project were not disclosed.
