Will be located south of Seoul in Ansan
Australia's DCI Data Centers and South Korean real estate manager Koramco will develop a 40MW facility near Seoul.
Located at the Sihwa National Industrial Complex in Seonggok-dong, Ansan, the facility will have a gross floor area of 26,871 sqm (289,237 sq ft) across five stories.
Planning approval for the project was secured in 2023. Construction is expected to commence between Q4 2025 and Q1 2026, and the facility is set to be operational by 2028.
DCI will hold a majority ownership stake and lead the project, whilst Koramco will navigate “the overall development process.” Power will be provided by the Korea Electric Power Corporation.
DCI Group CEO Sumit Mukhija said: “This project in Ansan represents a significant step in our regional expansion in key focused markets in APAC. It is designed specifically to meet the needs of AI and cloud-first workloads.”
Koramco CEO Hugh Park added: “We are excited to take this next step in expanding our infrastructure portfolio with the development of our second data center facility in the region.”
This will be DCI’s second data center in South Korea, following its 20MW SEL01 facility in Seoul, and will also be Koramco’s second data center investment.
Acquired by Brookfield in 2019, DCI now has more than 10 data center sites with 130MW of IT capacity in development across the APAC region. In April, the company submitted a plan for a 25MW data center in Canberra, Australia.
