Company coming to Shackelford County?
Vantage Data Centers is eyeing a new campus in Texas.
As reported by Big County Homepage and the Albany News, Vantage is in the early planning stages for a data center campus in Shackelford County.
Located in central Texas, Shackelford County is more than 100 miles west of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Albany, the biggest city in the county, is located some 35 miles northeast of Abilene, where Crusoe is developing a large campus for Oracle/OpenAI.
Vantage is reportedly proposing a multi-phase development at the intersection of Highway 604 and Highway 351, covering approximately 1,200 acres. Construction is expected to begin later this year and continue through 2029.
Shackelford County Commissioners gave unanimous approval this week for a ten-year tax abatement arrangement in which it will make $10 million in annual payments to the county in lieu of property taxes.
Vantage doesn’t currently operate any facilities in Texas, though has previously filed to develop a site in San Antonio.
“Vantage looks forward to being an active member of the local community,” the company told Big County.
DigitalBridge-owned Vantage operates or is developing data centers across the US, including in Ohio, Georgia, Texas, California, Virginia, Arizona, Indiana, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Washington.
