HostDime confirms multi-million dollar investment for third data center in Brazil

Company will also open a new facility in Mexico.

HostDime has confirmed a $40 million investment in a new data center in João Pessoa, a coastal city in northeastern Brazil.

It will be the third data center that the Florida-based international company will operate in the Latin American country, in addition to those it already has in João Pessoa and São Paulo.

The facility will be focused on intensive AI processing and has planned the incorporation of racks that can support up to 150 kVA and a total of approximately 15MW.

The data center has been designed to integrate lateral connectivity for optical networks to reach a bandwidth of up to 800Gbps and ensure seamless communication in all AI environments.

Lucas Montarroios, chief technology officer of HostDime Brazil, confirmed the investment to DCD and added that the facility will be the first public Edge data center to achieve Tier IV certification in Brazil.

"[The new João Pessoa data center] will be a milestone in our global strategy, adding to the facilities we already have operational in Angola and the one scheduled to open in Orlando in the last quarter of 2025," Montarroios said.

"It also joins the plan to build a new data center in Guadalajara that will be the second Tier IV certified public data center in Mexico."

HostDime has not yet disclosed the investment figure it will allocate to the new data center in Guadalajara, but Montarroios confirmed that it will span approximately 7,500 sqm (80,730 sq ft) and offer 6MW of capacity.

"Our vision is completely in line with that of our management team, where Manny Vivar [HostDime founder and CEO] and Filipe Mendes [CEO of HostDime Brazil] are always aligned to build these purpose-built, state-of-the-art data centers in unique, global locations," Montarroios added.

"HostDime has been making these investments for decades and reaping the rewards of a well-structured strategic plan."
