Vantage tops out fifth building of 206MW data center in Ashburn, Virginia

Campus to have six buildings at full buildout

Vantage has topped out the fifth building of its 206MW data center in Ashburn in Loudoun County, Virginia.

The campus is located at 45200 Vantage Data Plaza.

As announced on LinkedIn, the topping out of the five-story VA15 was celebrated on July 19. It is unclear how much capacity the fifth building will offer.

The Ashburn 1 campus - also known as VA1 - will include six data center buildings upon completion. It will take up 52 acres of space and offer more than 1 million sq ft (93,000 sqm). An expected completion date for VA1 has not been shared.

Construction contractor HITT Contracting, steel fabricator SteelFab, and steel erector Phoenix Steel Erectors worked on the project.

Vantage is currently constructing VA2 and VA3, which are campuses also located in Ashburn, Northern Virginia.

DigitalBridge-owned Vantage operates or is developing data centers across the US, including in Ohio, Georgia, Texas, California, Virginia, Arizona, and Washington. The data center operator recently secured a $735m refinancing loan with its data centers in Phoenix as collateral.

Northern Virginia is the world’s densest data center market. A recent report by Aurora Energy Research estimates that load growth in the region could spur the installation of up to 15GW of natural gas capacity across the PJM Interconnection grid.
