Poland’s Energy Regulatory Authority (URE) has announced the results of its latest renewables auctions, allocating a total of 16 TWh. The Polish Government had allocated for sale 75.9 TWh of green energy with a maximum value of just over PLN31bn (€7bn), of which only 21% was allocated. Only two out of seven auctions were resolved, with the tenders dedicated to hydro, agricultural biogas and biomass/biogas capacity receiving insufficient bids.
Most of the bids were made for photovoltaic and wind installations with a capacity of more than 1 MW (AZ/7/2025), receiving a total of 98 bids and allocating 32.25 TWh of energy at PLN8.9bn (€2bn). The URE estimates that approximately 1.6 GW of solar capacity and 83 MW of wind capacity may be built in the coming years. The second resolved auction was for wind and photovoltaic technologies with a capacity of no more than 1 MW (AZ/6/2025) with approximately PLN3.82bn (€940m) being allocated for the purchase of 11.25 TWh of energy.
Poland targets a share of renewables of 32.6% in its final consumption and of 56% in its power mix in 2030.
