Various items stolen from data center in Northern India

No specialized equipment seems to be missing

Around $3,000 (Rs 250,000) worth of items were stolen from a data center in Northern India.

The facility, which is reportedly closed, is located near the village of Harchandpur, northwest of Raebareli, a city in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.

Raebareli is not a data center hotspot. Most of India’s data centers are located in large metropolitan areas such as New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

According to Bhaskar, three ACs, eight batteries, and an unspecified amount of laptops and fans were taken from the facility. A picture of uncertain provenance acquired by JMD News seems to show a small room with an unlocked server, missing air conditioning units, overturned furniture, and several open drawers.

But reporting seems to indicate that no critical equipment was taken.

It is also unclear who the facility belongs to.

VueNow Infotech, which is currently being investigated for money laundering, has a presence in the area. Notably, an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate - India's national financial crime investigatory body - has shown that the company lacked sufficient infrastructure to provide the services it was advertising to customers.
