Company to offer “multi-billion capacity” covering data centers and power generation assets
Insurance broker W Denis Group has launched a new unit focused on insuring data centers.
The company this week launched a new specialist division focused exclusively on insuring data centers and their integrated power generation infrastructure.
The broker said the new unit will deliver “comprehensive, competitively priced solutions backed by multi-billion capacity on a global basis.”
W Denis will offer dedicated cover for the data center buildings, plant, and technology, as well as electricity generation assets, such as CHP, as well as BESS, solar, wind, and hybrid systems.
Capacity in the billions (£/€/$) is available through either direct insurance or facultative reinsurance structures, arranged with leading global insurers and reinsurers. The company said this enables support for single-site, multi-site, and portfolio programs across multiple geographies.
Risk and insurance solutions are available to cover construction risks including delay in start-up; operational property damage and machinery breakdown; business interruption, including utility failure triggers; on-site power generation asset insurance; third-party legal liabilities; legal indemnities (e.g. planning, easements); cyber, data breach, and E&O exposures; and specialist claims support and advocacy.
Mark Dutton, chief commercial officer at W Denis, said: “Data centers are among the most critical and energy-intensive assets in the modern economy. Our new division recognises that effective insurance must cover both the data and the power that keeps it alive. Our clients benefit from deep technical expertise, strong capacity, and joined-up coverage from build to operation.”
The company is just the latest mover in the insurance world to turn its attention towards data centers in recent months
Insurance broker and risk advisor Marsh recently launched a new insurance product covering risks related to data center construction. Lockton, another insurance firm, recently launched a data center SLA insurance product. Aon recently announced a multi-line insurance facility designed to manage risk across every stage of data center development and operations.
