Developer knows the way to San Jose
Two data centers could be built on a vacant plot in San Jose, California.
LBA Realty, a Bay Area property developer, wants to build a pair of data centers on adjoining plots of land at 350 West Trimble Road, between Orchard Parkway and the Guadalupe River in San Jose.
The land is owned by an affiliate of LBA Realty.
Documents filed with the San Jose council planning department show the first data center would be 206,300 sq ft (19,165 sqm) on an 18.1-acre plot, which will also accommodate offices and an electrical substation. The second 10.3-acre plot will house a data center and office block spanning 208,000 sq ft (18,654 sqm).
The land has previously been earmarked for homes, shops, and offices, according to Mercury News, which first reported the development.
In 2021, LBA sold 21 acres of land adjacent to its current sites to Microsoft, which paid $78 million for the plot. At the time, DCD reported that Microsoft was planning to develop a data center there, but this has yet to materialize.
