PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) through its second-tier subsidiary specializing in data center infrastructure, PT Teknologi Data Infrastruktur (NeutraDC Nxera Batam) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Medco Power Indonesia (Medco Power) marking a strategic partnership to implement renewable energy for its data center operations. The signing took place during the Batam Interconnect World Forum 2025 held in Batam on 7 July.
The MOU was signed by Indrama YM Purba, CEO of NeutraDC Nxera Batam and Femi Sastrena, Director, Chief Commercial and Business Development Officer of Medco Power.
“We provide data center infrastructure that serves as an AI enabler, which requires significant energy to support AI-related needs. Through this collaboration, we remain committed to caring for the environment and building sustainability into a digital hub,” said Indrama. The CEO added that as a hub for digital infrastructure, it was crucial to prioritize sustainability by leveraging on renewable energy amid the high energy demands of hyperscale data centers and AI workloads.
This collaboration also aligns with Medco Power’s move in providing renewable energy with the development of solar power around Kabil Integrated Industrial Estate (KIIE). “Collaborating with NeutraDC Nxera is a crucial move for Medco Power to play an active role in supporting digital transformation and developing renewable energy-based power plant, particularly in Batam,” said Femi of Medco Power. The company is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) with over 20 years of experience in developing gas and renewable power plants in Indonesia.
Batam continues to grow as a data center hub with significant potential to host AI data centers. The presence of NeutraDC Group’s facilities, through NeutraDC Nxera Batam, strengthens its position to develop a green hyperscale data center with 60MW IT Load of capacity.
Previously, a collaboration with Medco Power had been established by the Telkom’s subsidiary focused on Indonesia’s data center industry, NeutraDC Group, through the signing of a MoU in July 2023. Thus, the collaboration between NeutraDC and Medco Power has been established from the beginning to achieve a Net Zero Emission commitment in Indonesia.
Beyond Batam, NeutraDC also operates a data center in Cikarang which has implemented renewable energy.
