Data centers finally come to Navarre?
A data center campus could be developed outside Pamplona, Spain.
As reported by Diario de Navarra and Noticias de Navarra, Spanish construction firm VDR Group and Colliers have filed to develop a campus on the Gazólaz industrial estate in Cendea de Cizur, Navarre.
The four buildings will reportedly total 200,000 sqm (2.1 million sq ft). Planning approval for this project is expected to arrive between late 2025 and early 2026.
The €3.3 billion ($3.83bn) project will be developed in phases from 2027 through to 2029 and offer 300MW at full build-out.
VDR Group is a Navarra-based construction firm with projects across office, hospitality, residential, sport, and industrial sectors, and has developed several churches.
Further details, including an intended end user, are yet to be shared.
The Government of Navarre's upgraded data center was inaugurated in April after a €4 million ($4.64m) investment from the Government of Spain's Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). The project doubled the facility’s capacity from 200kW to 400kW, taking the site to 96 racks and more than 290 sqm (3,121 sq ft).
